Course Booking

Under the TAQA assessor courses we have four assessorqualifications.

  • UPPA: The purpose of this qualification is to refresh the knowledge of those who are already working as an assessor. This course consists of theory only.
  • AVRA: This qualification enables the candidate to work as an assessor in classroom, work shop or virtual learning setting. With this qualification you cannot work in any workplace environment
  • ACWE: This is exactly opposite to the AVRA qualification. That means, with this qualification you can only work in the work-place environment.
  • CAVA: With this qualification you are covering all three units of the course, therefore you can become an assessor both in classroom setting and workplace.

These four qualifications constitute of different combinations of three units.

           UNIT 1:  Understanding the principles and practices of Assessment

          UNIT 2:   Assess Occupational competence in the Work environment

          UNIT 3:   Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding

Apart from these qualifications there is IQA qualification. This focuses on internal quality assurance. While all other TAQA qualifications are level 3, the IQA is a level 4 qualification.

This course also consists of three units.

        UNIT 1:   Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of Assessment

        UNIT 2:   Internally assure the quality of assessment

        UNIT 3:   Plan, Allocate and Monitor work in own area of responsibility

As an assessor you’d be responsible for supporting and guiding the learners through their vocational training.

  • You need to plan and deliver NVQ training programs and workshops
  • Observe candidates’ competency in their workplace
  • Examine candidates portfolio of evidence
  • Question candidates about how they would deal with non-standard situations
  • Provide feedback and offer advice if the standards are not met
  • Sign off the NVQ when all the requirements have been met
  • Keep records of candidates’ progress, according to the requirements of the NVQ awarding bodies
  • Attend standardization meetings with other assessors
  • Work closely with training staff and candidates’ line managers.
